The Battle of Lockhart Farm, Tabernacle, NJ, April 14, 2007

It was a cool, crisp morning at Lockhart Farm on April 14th. There were gusty
winds blowing but no threat of rain appeared. The Colonists had 22 soldiers and
were led by Captain DiMarcangelo while the British had 19 soldiers and were led by
Captain Honsinger.  The Colonists won the coin toss and chose the rear camp position
hidden behind the dirt mound, this left the British to set-up camp in the front field
amongst the trees.

The first battle of the day had the British defending their camp and they were able to
withstand the Colonist advance giving them an early lead. The British used the
fence as their main defensive point and were able to keep the colonists at bay quickly
pushing back any that managed to break through the line. The colonists, led by a
heroic Officer Paul Harduk, attempted a charge but were driven back by the saber.

During the second battle the tides were turned as the British were to kill the Colonist
Captain. The Colonists chose to disguise their captain and found a perfect match in
Officer John Capaldo who was easily mistaken for Captain DiMarcamgelo. The
Colonists were successful in protecting their captain although Officer Capaldo
suffered the brunt of the British attacks. The British showed unfailing courage when
they attacked the almost impenetrable Colonist camp.

The next two battles, protecting the British gunpowder and both armies foraging for
food, evened out the score with each side winning one battle. Soldiers and nurses on
both sides were beginning to truly get into the drama of the moment and spectators
were treated to a first class show.

With the Colonists having a slight lead over the British the final battle became the
deciding factor. The British were again required to hold their camp and did so
successfully once again. The colonists were able to break through the British line of
defense this time and forced them back to their camp but, were unable to take the
camp itself. The Colonists suffered fewer casualties during this battle but were not
able to keep their lead without taking the British camp.

The first battle of the 2007 Revolutionary War was won by the British army but the
Colonists still have some time to win the war during the season so be sure to check
back for updates in the coming months.

Colonists - 184                                               British - 369
The Battle of Wachusett Mountain, Westminster, MA,

October 13, 2007

The morning was brisk and windy but there were clear skies after a week of rain.
The British, commanded by Captain Matson, had 12 soldiers and the Colonists,
commanded by Captain Allen, had 16. The camps were chosen and the British had
the high ground while the Colonists staked out the woods. The first battle had the
British trying to capture the Colonist camp but when the battle was over it was
deemed a draw since both sides had live soldiers in the camp.

For the second objective the Colonists had to take the British camp which proved to be
a futile attempt. The British had set their camp in the open field and the Colonists
tried their best but were unable to take the camp. Both sides fought to the very end
but the British held their camp.

Throughout the day both sides displayed fine fighting tactics and many soldiers
can be credited with suburb valor. During the third battle the colonists had control of
the tower with Captain Allen and Caleb Matson begining the battle in the tower. The
British had to capture the tower to win this battle. About halfway through the battle
both Captain Allen and Caleb Matson were seen out of the tower and rumor was that
there were about 5 British soldiers in the tower. When Captain Allen was asked if he
wanted to surrender the battle he replied, "No way, we still have time left". Well, his
decision worked for his benefit because when the battle was over the Colonist had once
again captured the tower and were found victorious for the round.

The final two battles were "kill the captain" and both sides proved victorious when
they had to protect their captain. During the final battle of the day Daniel Smith of
the British army was credited with a valiant charge into the Colonist camp in which
he crashed down upon a tent (ripping it), broke his sword and then lost his hat.

Many soldiers scored dramatic points for their team throughout the day and much
enjoyment was given to the spectators by the performances of the soldiers. Officers
Smith and Modahl as well as Ben Allen on the British side scored high rankings in
the area of dramatics but overall Richard Falzone on the Colonist side won the high
score for the day.

When all the scores were calculated the British had scored 15 points more than the
Colonists which technically meant the battle was a draw. Adding these points with
the points form the Battle of Lockhart Farm though gave the British the final win
over the Colonists for the year. Next year will begin a new war and maybe some
different results.
